We are a boutique recruitment consultancy focused on delivering exceptional results for our clients and candidates. We are currently seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Financial Controller / CFO to join our team on a part-time basis.
Location:Sydney CBD (1 day per week)
Role Overview:As the Financial Controller / CFO, you will play a critical role in overseeing our financial operations while providing strategic insights to support the growth and success of our business. You will lead and develop an assistant accountant, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of financial reporting and management information.
Key Responsibilities: - Performance Management: Coach and mentor the assistant accountant to improve skills and maximise efficiency and performance.
- Financial Oversight: Review and oversee all financial deliverables, including:
- Monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) and cash flow reporting
- Departmental analysis and commentary
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Reporting Requirements:
- Provide quarterly reports to the leadership team, including balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations.
- Prepare budget and forecast submissions for P&L and cash flow.
- Payroll Management: Ensure accurate monthly payroll submissions.
- Approval Processes: Review and approve business expenses.
- Tax compliance: Manage tax submissions, including income tax, GST, withholding tax, and FBT.
- Insurance Submissions: Oversee all insurance-related filings.
- Presentation and Reporting: Prepare and deliver regular presentations to the leadership team.
- Departmental Reporting: Build and maintain reporting templates, monitoring budget performance with monthly updates to budget owners.
- Service Excellence: Maintain a high level of service and support to the business, auditors, and operational and sales departments by addressing ad hoc queries promptly and professionally.
- Financial Management: Ensure accurate recording of financial ledgers and manage expenditure according to budget, including review of invoices and appropriate coding.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in management information reporting, ensuring timeliness, relevance, and quality.
- Policy Compliance: Enhance policies and procedures to align with relevant federal and state legislation.
Qualifications: - Proven experience as a financial controller or CFO in a similar-sized company, preferably in the recruitment or service sector.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, and payroll.
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficient in financial software and reporting tools. (Experience of Xero advantageous)
