Job Description
We are looking for an accomplished Payroll Manager to help take this well-known organisation to the next level across its Payroll function. Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, you will take charge of a large Payroll function to refine current processes & procedures, whilst working on a number of Payroll projects schedules for 2025 and beyond. Managing a team of 4, you will ensure the accurate fortnightly payroll for a large payroll across two business entities with 4 EAs and 12 awards in place.
Responsibilities: - Coach and manage a high-performing team including work allocation, capability development and performance management ensuring high levels of staff engagement and motivation.
- Provide operational oversight of payroll services and escalate issues and risks to support high-level decision-making and planning.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant requirements including legislative requirements, Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements, Superannuation, PAYG, Single Touch Payroll, Work Cover and Payroll Tax.
- Resolution of complex payroll inquiries and payroll issues.
- Ensure processes meet control requirements associated with internal and external audit, ATO and Office of State Revenue and manage responses to internal and external audit reviews.
- Review, develop and implement improvements to new and existing payroll compliance controls.
- Plan and manage the use of agreed processes, standards, methods, and tools to support efficiency, effectiveness, reliability, and consistency of service delivery and performance.
- Ensure data quality is to a high standard and data is optimised to support client visibility and decision-making via reports and dashboards.
- Manage and optimise technology solutions that support the delivery of services, including requirement management and testing of changes and upgrades.
- Plan and manage the use of agreed processes, standards, methods, and tools to support efficiency, effectiveness, reliability, and consistency of service delivery and performance.

- Build long-term customer relationships and maintain a strong understanding of customer’s needs; managing expectations and competing internal and external stakeholder demands to deliver operational excellence and a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Drive the ongoing analysis and review of HR services and processes to identify opportunities for value optimization, improvement, and enhancement, informed by customer data and service performance metrics.
- Develop service performance standards and report against performance metrics that are aligned with business and HR objectives and facilitate a work environment that embraces the culture of accountability.
- Comply with relevant EEO and WHS regulations.
- Perform any other duties as required and appropriate for this classification.
About you: As an experienced Payroll Manager, you have a strong track record of improving payroll compliance & governance, as well as upskilling and mentoring a team. You are driven by perfection and enjoy collaboration with relevant stakeholders, especially in a project-driven environment.
This is a permanent role paying up to $200k package for the right candidate. The team currently works 3 days from the office, and 2 from home.
